Ark Start Oval nursery “inspires curiosity”, says Ofsted.
Ark Start Oval, a nursey in Croydon, has been rated ‘good’ in all areas by Ofsted. The nursery was inspected last month, two years after opening its doors to children.
The report said: “The nursery offers children rich opportunities to play and learn. Imaginative activities are available at different heights to inspire curiosity, where “staff build on vocabulary by providing narrative for the experience.”
It added, “Staff know children well; this helps them to feel safe and settled. The Inspector found that, “The nursery focuses on personal, social and emotional development, giving children the tools to progress through life and education. Behaviour is positive and managed sensitively by teaching children empathy and names for feelings. Respect and tolerance are woven into the fabric of the nursery. Positive efforts are made to communicate intentions to parents.”
The report said: “The nursery promotes school readiness by encouraging the children to be independent. Children are self-sufficient and learn to take care of their own needs.”
Headteacher Molly Devlin said, “We are overjoyed to achieve our ‘good’ rating. My team and I have worked exceptionally hard over the last few years and will continue to thrive and be a welcoming nursery for our young learners.”
Tom and Lucy Holding, whose daughter goes to the nursery said: “The report reaffirmed to me how great Ark Start Oval is and how lucky the community is to have you all. We’re so happy we have the opportunity to send our daughter to Ark Start – for her to be in such a rich and wholesome environment is of great comfort to us.”
Ark Start, Oval opened in September 2021 and was inspected on 21 March 2023.
