Ark Start John Archer

Ark Start John Archer is an Ofsted rated Good nursery in the heart of Battersea. Our nursery makes great use of being situated so centrally with trips to central London as well as locally. We make use of the incredible resources of Battersea: the Common, Battersea Park, the Wetlands, and local libraries and galleries.

Our nursery serves children from age 1 and is led by specialist early years teachers. Every day, highly qualified adults lead ‘time to find out’ sessions. In these sessions the children explore literacy, maths, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design. The sessions are there to enhance the children’s thoughts and language and further support learning through play.

Our nursery serves children from age 1. Free 2 year old and 3 year old places available all year round or term time only.

About Molly

Hi! My name is Molly and I am the Headteacher at Ark Start Nurseries. I am passionate about providing quality education for young children and have worked in the early years for 10 years, as a Nursery teacher, Reception teacher and leading in early reading including synthetic phonics. I love singing and storytelling and know how fun and motivating it is for young children to learn more about the world through stories, songs and experiences they want to talk about and share with others. I am originally from New Zealand and grew up by the sea and mountains, so enjoy spending as much time outside as possible! In my spare time, I enjoy cuddling with my cat, Neko and singing as much as I can.

About Sarah

Sarah is a qualified Early Years Teacher with a Masters degree in Early Years Education, and has taught within early years for 10 years.

Before joining Ark Start, Sarah worked as an Early Years Lead in an Ark School.

Sarah believes that every child deserves the best start in life. Inspirational learning in Early Years is provided through a safe, stimulating and enriching environment that enables children to develop character and independence through play and by engaging in high quality interactions with the adults in Nursery.

About Syreta

Syreta has worked with children of different ages in a school setting for 4 years. She loves working with children because no two days are the same and she enjoys the way they perceive the world.

Syreta is passionate about learning and being the bridge that supports a child to access new information or experiences. Syreta is so happy to be here at Ark Start and be part of helping children and their families in our community with the first stages of learning.

Syreta absolutely love animals and learning about new cool animal facts. When not in the nursery, Syreta plays an active role in her church and enjoys reading, spending time with family and visiting new places in England or abroad.

About Gursharon

My name is Gursharon, and I have just started at Ark Start Nursery.
I have been working in childcare for over 15 years and spent a lot of that time working in the Early Years, as I find this is the best time to encourage the children to grow, be independent and get the best out of the way they learn and understand themselves.
My favourite play is messy plan and I love getting stuck in with different type of sensory mediums.

About Hannah

Hello, my name is Hannah and I am a recent graduate of the University of Roehampton. I achieved an “Outstanding” first class grade with the dissertation I wrote, based on my own research project on transitional objects and the importance of children’s voice on what matters to them. The Froebelian philosophies regarding children’s autonomy, as well as learning out of doors and their connection to nature, are very important to me. Outside of education, I am passionate about literature and history. I’m delighted to be here at Ark Start and I am looking forward to my future here!

About Antonia

Hi there! My name is Antonia, and I have over eight years of experience in caring for children of all ages. My passion for childcare was ignited during my time in West Africa Ghana, where I spent a year and a half working alongside my mother.

What I love most about working with children is witnessing their growth and development. As a caregiver, it’s truly fulfilling to be a part of a child’s journey from the very beginning, all the way to their transition into school. Being able to guide and nurture them during these crucial stages is a privilege that I cherish.

When I’m not working, I indulge in my love for writing and singing as part of my church choir. I’m also passionate about giving back to the community and have organized fundraisers and distributed food and toy hampers to children in Ghana.

About Sasha

Hello, my name is Sasha and I am an apprentice here at Ark Start. I am excited for this opportunity, and to be able to support and care for the children at our nursery.

I love helping the children learn to draw, sing nursery rhymes, and making them smile. I am passionate about making every child feel heard while encouraging their growth through play.

In my spare time I enjoy playing piano, live music, painting, and creative writing.

Zoie

Family Support & Engagement Manager

About Zoie

My name is Zoie, the Family support and engagement manager for Ark Start. I have worked in the early years sector for just over 15years. I am passionate about ensuring children and their parents/carers receive the best start in life, and in their journey as a family. Having worked in various roles on my path through early years, I feel very fortunate in what I have learnt along the way, and hope to use these skills to help others.

In my spare time, I love to paint and do little craft projects, spend time with my family and friends, read and explore the museums, markets and fun pop ups around London. I am also taking a counselling skills course and hope to progress onto my Level 4 soon.

I am always here to help with anything you need, so just pop by and say hello.
