Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC)
Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a successful, popular and unique parenting approach that is delivered in an 8 week parent-led course. The ‘Being a Parent’ course helps parents learn practical skills and bring up confident and happy children.
Ark Start Oval nursery in East Croydon are working together with Off the record, to train a new cohort of parent group leaders (PGLs) . Once completed, our PGLs will be running ‘Being a Parent’ courses from our nursery and the local area. To learn more about what it is like to be a parent group leader, click here.
Time to Talk
Ark Start, Ark John Archer Primary Academy and South London Citizens have come together to build a strong team of parents to break down barriers to child development in the local area and improve the parent voice within the school and nursery.
In the first term of the project, a growing group of parents from both the nursery and the school came together and identified and took action on some key issues in the local area. As the Spring term came to an end, the citizens parents had some amazing wins, including priority places for children’s activities at CAIUS house and a Local Councillor Surgery at the school in the summer term.
We are now continuing this amazing work and would love for more parents to join their community make change happen. On Wednesdays, we host coffee mornings to bring parents together asking “What action can you take to make change happen?” If you are interested in being a part of your parent community group, please apply below or call Zoie on 020 3116 6338.
Stay & Play
At our stay and play, we offer an excellent opportunity to have some meaningful one-to-one time with your 1 – 2 year old. Led by Zoie, our experienced Early Years and ‘PEEP’ trained practitioner, each session is made up of music and songs, varied activities and reading. And there is plenty of time at the end to have a cup of tea and meet other parents.
The sessions take place from 8:45 am – 9:45 am every Monday at Ark Start John Archer in Clapham Junction and every Thursday at Ark Start Oval in Croydon.
