Free community meals bring Ark Start John Archer families together

FoodCycle’s community meals initiative, which our nursery families also benefit from, was featured on ITV News

At Ark Start John Archer we are proud to take part in initiatives that bring our families closer together. One of them is FoodCycle, a project that transforms surplus food into free nutritious meals for our community. Recently, ITV News visited our partner school, Ark John Archer Primary Academy, to showcase how this initiative helps tackle food waste while building a stronger community.

Every week, FoodCycle provides freshly prepared meals to children and their families, including the little ones at our nursery in Clapham Junction. Volunteers cook a healthy two-course meal using food that is still perfectly good to eat but would otherwise go to waste. More than just a meal, this initiative offers families a night off from cooking and a chance to connect in a welcoming environment.

Watch the ITV News video below to see how these community meals are making a difference in the lives of our families:

A strong link with our community in Clapham Junction

Ark Start, Ark John Archer Primary Academy and South London Citizens have come together to build a strong team of parents to break down barriers to child development in the local area and improve the parent voice within the school and nursery. See how we partner with parents.
